Description

Summary: Pan, ground surrounding and building housing Allied Control Council Official car approaches building. In the Potsdammer Platz, the Communist front Consumer's League demonstrates protesting high prices, etc. FS, two women carrying furled red flags. HS, two Russian policemen bring in suspect. Suspect is cuffed and slapped. HS, crowd approaches meeting place. LS, gutted Reichstag building. Crowds gather for meeting. MS, Franz Neumann, Social Democratic leader, addresses the throng. LS, Soviet flag flies at half-mast from atop Brandenburger Tor. HS, Cut-ins, crowd listening, applauding. Scharnofsky, leader of the Independent Trade Union, addresses the crowd. Other German leaders of the Western Zone address the throng followed by Ernst Reuter who makes final speech.
