Description

Summary: Fourteen advisors from the American UN Delegation arrive at Temple: Airport to acquaint themselves with the airlift. The group speaking to American officers and officials at the airport: Officers briefing the group. The delegation looking at some of the sights in Berlin including the Soviet World War II Monument. Group at border between the Russian and US Zones. A Groundman signals in a twin engine plane. The UN delegation debarking from plane; posing in a group; getting into cars and leaving field. AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER ARRIVES IN GERMANY: Gatow, Berlin, Germany: 07/11/1948. Australian Prime Minister, Ben Shiefley leaves plane and is greeted by civilians and officers, among them, Gen Herbert, British Commandant Berlin. MSs, Prime Minister speaking to greeters and newspapermen. DP JEWS LEAVE FOR PALESTINE FROM GERMANY. 03/14/1949. Young men and women looking at Palestine poster tacked on the door. Crowds standing in camp. Palestine flag in bg. Band walks through. People listen to speakers. Cut-ins of people, mostly young men and women, listening. MS, Palestinian flag flying from stand, to right a German monument. People run alongside bus leaving grounds. Private cars, some decorated with branches, moving out of grounds and arriving at railroad station. Group at station singing. HS, young Jews getting aboard trains at station.
