CONCENTRATION CAMPS IN GERMANY Part 2
Description
Summary: (Note: This reel was compiled as evidence and used at the Nuremberg Trials.) OHRDRUF CONCENTRATION CAMP: VS, during liberation of the camp by Gen George S Patten, Jr's Fourth Armd Div, Third US Army forces. Gen Dwight D Eisenhower, Gen Walton H Walker, Gen Omar N Bradley and a few unidentified US Brig Generals inspect the camp grounds. Photographic evidence includes the rack used to whip inmates, the wood shed showing lime covered bodies of former inmates heaped in a pile, and demonstrations by the present inmates showing the tortures used by the Nazis during their internment. CUs, bodies riddled with bullets, crude woodland crematory (really nothing more than railroad tracks placed across one another to form a grill), and charred remains of inmates. German civilians are taken on a forced tour of the camp by the US troops. A German medical officer (Major) accompanies the towns-people as well as former slave labor bosses. All are made to view the horrors of the camp. HADAMAR: (Note: Hadamar was the headquarters for the systematic murder of people, but operated under the guise of a mental institution.) CUs, living examples of Nazi brutalities inside Hadamar. HSs, graveyard of the institution; exhumation of the bodies begins. Autopsy of the bodies by American major is underway. Details are recorded by US soldiers. Interrogation of the institutional heads includes the questioning of the head male nurse. The men are taken into custody.
