Description

Summary: Scene of some of the 15,000 marines who broke out of the Hagaru-ri trap at Chosin Reservoir as they arrive on foot and in vehicles. The first shot shows the marines plodding along the strip. A Korean woman with child on her back stands in right fg. Cpl A W Rasmussen and Cpl J Scott at water-cooled MG looking through binocs, pointing, talking. Men around fire warming themselves, eating. Sherman tank with marines and some SKs atop comes through; some men wave. Marines help wounded buddies to plane. LS, men running twd TBM plane which has crash-landed; men around plane. AV, shadow of C-119 moving along snow-covered ground. AVs, long line of marine convoy on its way to Kotori. AV, mountains, partly snow-covered. Officer briefing crew of C-119 which will drop bridge. C-119 in flight as sections of steel treadway are dropped to encircled marines. CU, pilot in C-119 CU, Major in C-119. He is speaking over mike. They adjust chutes on ammo crate, tie up crate. Soldiers preparing supplies for airdrop. Pan, Hundreds of prepared supplies for airdrop. Rations are unloaded from truck. Packed supplies are picked up by forklift. KOTORI: Some of the marines are arriving at Kotori from Hagaru-ri. It is snowing, the men are weary and fatigued.
