Description

Summary: Allies puch beyond Rome. German troops marching single file past building. German tanks and guns speeding past camera. Shots of American wounded by sniper being carried away in jeep. Crowds of civilians and soldiers running in street as soldiers try to shoot sniper hidden in apartment house. U S vehicles speeding toward camera. Pan to knocked-out German tank with dead driver. U S vehicles entering Monterosi. U S soldiers examining knocked-out German vehicle and 88mm gun, near Sutri. U S vehicles, and U S troops on foot, passing thru Tarquina. Troops on road passing burning building and wrecked German equipment. Sequence: High shot of harbor of Civitavecchia; wrecked ships in harbor. Scenes of ruins including church and church interior Minesweeper removing mines from harbor. Engineers cleaning waterfront dynamiting. Constructing landing place for LST. Dynamiting ship blocking harbor. Steam shovel and pile driver at work. LST comes up to shoreline and unloads dukws.
