MS, half-track tows 57mm gun into positions MESNIL ROBERT, FRANCE.: 08/05/1944: MS, GUs, soldiers of the 3rd Bn, 137th Regt, 35th Inf Div, returning to rest area near Mesnil Robert. GATHEMO, FRANCE.: 08/08/1944: Seq. signed to Co L, 3rd Bn, 109th Inf Regt, 28th Div. Sgt showing replacements where to dig foxholes. VIRE, FRANCE.: 08/08/1944: MS, P-51 burning fiercely after crash landing near Vire. MS, ammunition in plane exploding. CU, rescued pilot talking to two soldiers. ST MALO, FRANCE.: 08/08/1944: MS, men of the 315th Inf Regt, 3rd Bn, I Co, setting up 81mm mortar and firing. MS, patrol entering St Malo are pinned down by sniper fire. LSMS, men running through streets and ducking into doorways. VS, soldiers blaze away with rifles and tommy guns at snipers. MS, men set up rocket launcher and fire into buildings. MS, captured German officer with white armband stands in street and orders snipers to surrender. They fire and German officer is killed. CU, body of German officer. VS, American wounded being treated by first aid men. MS, wounded soldier being helped along st by two medics. GEN JOSEPH W STILWELL ARRIVES AT SEAC.: Colombo, Ceylon: 07/31/1944: LS, plane in flight. MS, plane lands and Gen Stilwell alights and is greeted by Brig Gen Frank D Merrill and other officers. They talk, then enter car and drive away.
