Note: Spectacular explosion, some scenes photographd from close range. SURRENDER OF CEZEMBRE.: St Malo, France: 09/01/1944: LSs artillery shells landing on Cezembre Island. MSs, LCMs in harbor en route to the island. MS, LCM at dock, German prisoners leave barge with suitcases and full packs. MSs CUs of Cezembre prisoners, with heads and hands bandaged. MSs, Maj Gen Robert C Macon and Brig Gen Robert M Montague. GERMAN SOLDIERS EXECUTED BY FFI, FRANCE.: 09/01/1944:. MS two German soldiers against wall in Provence, France. MSs, one German soldier against wall is executed by FFI firing squad. CU, executed German. MSs, crowd of civilians watch execution. SURRENDER OF CEZEMBRE.: Garrison, St Malo, France: 08/29/1944-09/02/1944: LSs, P-38s and B-24s bomb island; good explosions and fire shots. MSs, American soldiers in LCMs go out to island. MSs, soldiers raise American flag over fort. MS, Maj Gen Macon on island, salutes garrison commander. Sequence: German wounded are carried into landing craft; others of garrison march out to landing craft.
