Summary: CU, setting up barrage balloon on landing strip in France. CU, C-47 landing on new strip; casualties being loaded: CU, nurses. CUs, loading German prisoners and French civilians on C-47. CU, C-47 taking off, in air; interiors, English nurse giving blood transfusion. LSs, American dead on litters, lined up on beachhead. CU, reading identification tags. LSs, CUs, German prisoners being herded along road. CU, Gen H H Arnold, Gen Carl Spaatz, Lt Gen Lewis B Brereton and Maj Gen R Royce, in jeep on beachhead. Sequence: First ambulance planes arriving in England; wounded unloaded, examined. CU, Negro troops carrying litter cases to ambulance. AV cargo planes fly over English Channel, France, drop chutes. CU, American fighter plane attacks and hits two German bombers. CUs, German plane drops belly tank, another plane hit, pilot bails out. GSAP sequence: Strafing enemy airdromes and planes on ground. GSAP, Focke-Wulf 190 is hit as it takes off and bursts into flames. Sequence: Bombing RR installations; strafing locomotives. B-26 Marauders covering invading armada at sea. B-26s dropping bombs on ground installations. (NOTE: Intermittent Scratches throughout reel) GSAP footage very good.
