Armored cars appear. Frenchmen applaud. American troops march in the square. Pan, littered Cherbourg dock area. HLS of German prisoners marching from their installation. In the town street American troops march. (This is part of the ceremony in giving back Cherbourg to the French.) INVASION 266 HLSs of the people watching the ceremony taking place in front of bldg. VS, French people applaud. MS, two American soldiers in the crowd salute. Communications crew in the street. Two American soldiers hold their rifles on the alert near a group of Frenchmen who are talking amongst themselves. Damaged and wrecked cars, damaged trucks. A Jeep with American troops comes by. Two American soldiers carrying unidentified articles walk down the street. LS of a wrecked street, some so ldiers are seen standing to the side. MCU. an American soldier speaks on a handie-talkie. A few American soldiers talk near the entrance of a wrecked house, Cut-ins of damaged bldgs. One looks like the entrance to a tunnel. MS, three American soldiers standing in doorway, they are smiling; one man is eating crackers or some type of rations. A body lies at the curb to the left. LSs, soldiers run across the street onto sidewalk, take cover at side of bldg, then continue on. LS of soldier crouching in doorway. Another man runs along the street, slows down as he comes near other soldiers. LS, soldiers on the alert staying close to the bldgs as they come twd the camera.
