Mr Hammamoto, Gen Yamashita, and Col Clarke stand before the bench. Mr. Hammamoto reads a statement for Gen Yamashita in which he pleads his innocence and thanks the court for its justice and the courtesies shown him. Gen Reynolds reads a brief summary of the charges and the court findings. The General goes on to pronounce the death sentence by hanging. Army interpreter translates the findings and sentence to the defendant. Seq: Gen Reynolds orders the prisoner to be escorted away. Yamashita and Col Clarke walk out of courtroom escorted by MPs.
