Description
Signal Corps ADC 6902 SOURCE: AFCF (A-2147) 111 FILM : Arch & APC MP, 783' ea, Composite (Std) ADC 6902 WAR CRIMES TRIALS, (TOJO DEFENSE) Tokyo, Japan - 2 Jan 1948 Keenan at lectern stating that he is asking the witness, Tojo, whether he knew he was committing a crime when he declared war on the U S. Justice Webb making a statement about admission or non-admission of guilt. "He (Tojo) was not invited to make any admission of guilt. He did not make an admission but a state of fact. An opinion of belief on the law is not an admission and is irrelevant except perhaps on the question of mitigation, etc, etc." Keenan asks Tojo whether he had known that he had been recommended as Foreign Minister in the Konoye Cabinet and whether he was surprised on learning he was appointed. The accused answers deviously, that he was surprised at one point and wasn't surprised on another point, which moves Mr Keenan to say, testily, "that that answer is not of much value to me." NOTE: Sound, very poor. Record Group 111 Accession III-NAV-210 ARMY PICTORIAL CENTER, 35-11 35th Ave, LIC 1, NY FB/amf
