The few survivors hid in the woods. U S Generals Dwight D Eisenhower, Omar N Bradley, George S Patton, and Walton H Walker inspect the camp. The generals inspect the scaffold, talk to prisoners. A woodshed is filled with bodies stacked in piles. Close-ups of the lime-covered corpses. Close-ups of the generals viewing them. Inmates demonstrate how they were tortured. Dead bodies are strewn on the ground. U S Congressmen also view the camp. The crude crematory is shown with close-ups of charred remains. A truck brings local townspeople, including Nazi party officials, who are forced to view the camp. A German medical major is compelled to accompany the townspeople. The visitors view bodies of inmates shot on eve of the U S arrival. Two slave labor bosses are shown. The Nazis are forced to go into the woodshed. They come out obviously moved. The visitors examine emaciated patients shown in close-up. Major Herman Voke, head of the American War Crimes Investigating Team, leads the examination. In the graveyard attached to the institution, bodies are exhumed for autopsies. Men wear gas masks as they lift corpses out of holes and line up bodies. CU, Major Volke listing data.
