Description

Summary: LS, Ext, Honor Guard, band, await arrival of dignitaries. LSs, C-54 plane taxis before group of officers; door opens, ramp wheeled in place. Seq: Lt Gen Lauris Norstad, Deputy Chief Allied Forces; Norwegian Gen Oen leave plane, are met by Maj Gen Truman H Landan, Deputy CO, USAFE; Lt Gen Robert W Harper, USAFE; Col Rich, Chief of Staff 12th AF; and Col Roberts, CO Wiesbaden AFB, photogs, others. Seq: dignitaries walk, salute; pan L ranks of Color Guard, band. Still photog takes pix. Officers pass through ranks of Honor Guard to cars, leave. Seq: & RV, Norstad, others inspect, talk to Italian airmen in formation (pans) by their Vampire jets. Inspecting party walks in Italian camp area, exchange greetings, salutes with Italian escorts by auto, leave. Seq: Norstad and escorts inspect US tent areas, enter tents, speak to groundmen at F-84s. Seq: T/Sgt G Cavert plugs auxiliary power unit into F-84 plane on strip. Seq: Pfc D Sawyer raises F-84 nose section checks MGs. NOTE: flare apparent in CUs and on long focus lens footage.
