Summary: LS, ext, soldiers of the British Blue Force, wait in the tall grass in defense of a bridge across the Aller River leading to Rethem. MHA, ind shots, soldiers in M-24 tank stand ready. LS, soldier kneeling in the grass fires his rifle, left. LS, M-24 tank guarding the bridge approach, fires left of camera. ELS, tank driving twd the right. LS, sign "Rethem". Pedestrian walks twd camera, young, girl cycles on road away from camera. Coil of barbed wire lies across road in bg. VS, British 30th Engrs carry assault boat to the river, board, paddle twd bg and meet other assault teams who have entered from right. LS, boats are paddled swiftly to the opposite shore. MLS, bridge on the Aller River; smoke rises in bg. LS, British Centurion tank drives right and twd bg on the streets of Rethem in retreat. LS, Bren Carrier of Blue Force has mechanical difficulty in street. LSs, US, jeep and M-24 tanks of the Aggressor Red Force, 6th Armd Cav 2d Bn, Co D, enter Rethem driving twd bg. MLS, Gen Dwight D Eisenhower walking left to right on street to inspect men of the British 1st Essex Regt. VS, Eisenhower and Brig Campbell, British 31st Inf. Brig inspects formations of umpires and men. LSs, Eisenhower, Campbell, and Col Charles of Essex Regt, walk and talk in street. They enter British passenger cars and drive twd the bg. LS, British soldiers in full gear trot from bridge approach moving right to left. Pan right to American jeeps and M- 24 tanks in pursuit across the bridge. A native horse-drawn wagonload of milk cans is in the procession of tanks. VS, tanks, jeeps, and trucks of Red Force crossing bridge and driving twd camera in the town. LS, MLSs, pan as British cross Aller River in assault boats and climb up riverbank twd camera.
