WAC STORY Part 2

Description

Summary: Int Ward: Patient, Sgt Jack D Jackson, in bed. The bed is equipped with pulleys and weights. Pvt Joan Rutzen comes in, places pillows underneath the patient's head and adjusts leg for rub-down. CU, as WAC's hand rubs alcohol on Sgt's leg. Adjusting bandage on leg. The leg is in a clamp. The WAC lights a cigarette for the Sgt. He smiles, thanks her. Slate 04/27-28-29: Negro WAC supervising Japanese girls at a Dead Letter Office. Negro WAC showing the girls how to work on the files. Over shoulders of WAC as she compares letter with card in file. Two Negro WACs chat and smile as they walk to pigeonholes; putting letters in. MS, Negro WAC looking over papers at desk; picks up telephone. WAC gets up from desk, take two papers to the counter. She talks to a WAC Sgt (white). Sgt looks at the papers, chats, smiles, and leaves. Negro girl puts papers down, sits at desk and speaks over the telephone. Negro WAC typist at desk. She gets up, an officer hands her a paper; she sits down and starts typing. MS, another Negro WAC typing. Negro WAC walking down street twd camera, then entering Nisseh hut. Tilt- up, to sign, "WAC Detachment Yokohama Command, 8064 Army Unit". MS, Negro typist at desk. She gets up, puts something in file and back to desk. Three WACs, two Negro, come out of Nissen hut.
