Summary: German soldiers surrender to US soldiers crouching by side of embankment. US troops mopping up in streets of Oppenheim, Germany. Heavy artillery and soldiers cross ponton bridge over the Rhine. Pan shot, several shell-torn houses. White flags fly from windows of homes. MCUs, young German prisoners are searched. Thousands of prisoners are transported across the river in barges. US SEVENTH ARMY CROSSES THE RHINE.: Germany: 03/29/1945: Excellent intimate shots of US soldiers resting on bank of Rhine. Some look to opposite shoreline. Storm boats prepare to cross river. MSs, MLSs, Dukws loaded with soldiers and supplies begin to cross Rhine. TS, crossing of Rhine in Dukw and landing on opposite shore.
