EDT, 12 October 1961 SUPPLEMENTARY FOOTAGE ON A MILITARY DEMONSTRATION OF COMBAT READINESS (Official Army footage released by Department of Defense) A military demonstration of combat readiness is being held today for President John F. Kennedy and Government officials at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The exercise provides a view of the Strategic Army Corps/Tactical Air Command forces in operation. In addition, there will be a demonstration of new Army weapons and of Ranger and Special Forces capabilities. The Air Force supports the exercise with an air strike and air drop. Sequences show: (a) 82nd Airborne Division in battle gear. (b) Arctic troopers and their equipment. (c) 82nd Division and vehicles pass in review. (d) Special Forces in hand to hand combat. (e) Falling from a cable. (1) McKellar Pond Demonstration. of (g) Special Forces in full gear running. (h) Demonstration of "Buck Rogers" flying belt. (1) Ground display of 82nd Airborne weapons. (1) Weapons firing demonstration. (is) Helicopters firing rockets. (1) Special Forces floats pass in review. (m) F-100s straffing run. (n) Air drop of men and heavy equipment.
