(x) 9 January 1953 "ALL QUIET ON KOREAN FRONT" EXCEPT FOR GUNS, ROCKETS, ETC. (Official Marine Corps Footage Released by Department of Defense) While no large scale action was reported when these films were made, the Marine Corps sector is just "quiet" in a technical way CHECK with tanka firing, rockets blasting / and the usual front line patrol activity continuing. These scenes show Marine tanks in action under enemy fire blasting Red bunkers on a distant ridge and then withdrawing to another position when enemy artillery and mortars get the range. Meanwhile, a fast-moving Marine Corps rocket battery scores on a "hit and run" attack, surprising the Reds with a barrage of 4.5 rockets. Behind the front, the "quiet" gives way to Yankee ingenuity 000 a home-made washing machine that really cleans up for its inventor and his buddies, While it may not look as attractive as Stateside household models, it does the job easier than washing clothes on the banks of a stream, REQUEST CREDIT IN TITLE OR COMMENTARY TO DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE The fine grain master positive was released today in New York to the newsreel company named above for dupli- cation and distribution to all members of the newsreel pool.
