The 252-foot SKIPJACK displaces 2830 tons and is the first nuclear powered submarine to have a blimp shaped hullo Her first Commanding Officer is Commander William Wo Behren, JSog USN. SHIPJACK was built by the Electric Boat Division, General Dynamics Corporation, Groton, Connecticut. After commissioning SHIPJACK will join the USS NAUTILUS USS SEAWOLF and USS SKATE in Squadron 10 of the Atlantic Fleet Submarine Force at New London. - Sequences show: (a) SKIPJACK making a high speed run showing water washing over decks.
