TEST OF NON-PERSISTENT GAS ON SHIPS Part 3
Description
1,000-lb. gas bombs are dropped on a ship off Panama to test the effects on exposed personnel. A bomb exploded at water level creates an ineffective mushroom. An air-burst fuse causes an effective gas cloud. Goats are placed aboard the ship. Eleven B-24s drop bombs that cover the target with gas clouds. All unprotected goats are killed. It is concluded that gas bombs are effective in neutralizing stationary ships in a harbor.
