Documentary: On the 1949 Moscow May Day parade. Units of the Soviet military and factory workers parade and display military and industrial strength before various Russian and foreign dignitaries. Reel 1, interior views of a machine and truck factory. Views of banner-bearing paraders praising Soviet leaders and economic plans; people dancing in the streets. Reel 2, display of Soviet and military might in Red Square. Views of Soviet leaders: Joseph Stalin, Vyacheslav Molotov, Lazar Kaganovich, Nikolai Bulganin, Lavrentia Beria, Georgii Malenkov and Semen Budennyi. Reel 3, Marshall Aleksandr Vasilevskii delivers speech atop Nikolai Lenin's tomb, praising Lenin, Stalin and communism and attacking capitalism; artillery salute follows. Reel 4, parade continues; aerial views of Moscow and Soviet air power. Reel 5, more views of military vehicles and of parading Soviet athletes. Reel 6, happy paraders wave, smile and dance; includes scenes of night celebration.
