Description

FR #A233 SKYLAB 4 KINESCOPE TAPE 13, PART 1 of 3 if you're recording, you're on TV, too. Let me cut mine off well, okay, we're on record, I guess. Wait a minute, this is a two-axis maneuver then I've got you in the wrong position. Want to do the two-axis translation first and then the dog leg. Okay? Okay, we have the subject stabilized now, and he will be all right, he's going to translate down, feet first, mark - after a pitch up to adjust attitude, toward the object over there - now he's pitching down, now he'll yaw slightly to the left. He's thrusting in first headfirst - toward FMU 2 - now he's got a slight yaw to the right established. Okay, now he's grabbed the FMU 1. Mark. Okay, now dog-leg maneuver coming up next. Okay, uh, let me get you stabilized here too little light? Okay, this one's gonna' be the dog-leg that's good, got a little yaw going there. Ready? Ready. Mark (garble) he's pitching down now, pitched down so he's gotta' line up for his thrusters first, to pitch headfirst (garble) now he's thrusting toward , a slight row to the left, he's correcting, now he's trans- lating towards of the workshop, and it's a very difficult thing (garble) and reaching out and grabbing it. Okay, mark. SPT Houston, we just figured out what's confusing you here - the TV photo - the TV Ops book is in error - at least it doesn't agree with the maneuvering experiment checklist. The experiment checklist calls out three sections from the 57th day, and your TV OPS book does indeed just call out for (garble) mentioned awhile ago. Roger, Dick, we're all poised with the TV camera, and we're ready to go, we're looking for some clear area. Okay. Dick, 12's going real well, but you may want to have the guys look at H-Alpha. Uh I can't get the film to advance and our picture is degrading. Okay, we'll certainly do that, Ed, and we'll bring it down live TV, and I see a hairy chin. Oops and lots of clouds. Yeah, it's clearing up further south though - here comes the photo log, okay, you ready? Sixteen mm. TO-20, charlie-indian 79, charlie-indian 126, S192, MIKE TANGO charlie-indian 8076 (garble 08). Thank you, Jerry, got that. Okay, Dick, you ought to be able to see Catalina Island, San Clemente Island and the Los Angeles area. Roger, Jerry, we're looking at it. Looks like there's either clouds or we're still in the Mojave Desert snow in the Mojave. (garble) coming up Dick, - we're sure do. Should be able to see the Sultan SALTON Sea by now. Yeah, you might try zooming in toward that clear area, Jerry. Sultan Sea. Okay, we're watching you. That picture gets much clearer when you get the clouds of out of the field of view okay, you can see the cultivated Imperial Valley there south of the sea. Roger, sure can, we were just looking at that ourselves. Now even the coastal range has got snow on it. Roger. Just the little amount of snow that's visible in these pictures Jerry is not hurting us at all. Okay, you ought to be able to see the Great Sonora Desert down there and I want to be sure you guys can see the definition of the sand dunes. Yeah, now we do, Jerry, in that picture. You see a good bit of definition but it's kind of hard to tell exactly where we are oriented. There you go. See my pencil sticking in there? Yessir, sure did. That was right on top of those sand dunes. Roger, we see them. And just south of that area are three of our handheld observation areas that we are doing a lot of observations for Lee Silver on. Roger. Be aware, we are watching - looking at a 6-second delay on the TV live here. Okay, good. I tell ya', it might get a little shaky here, Bill has to do some acrobatics to keep things going. Okay, now he's looking down Baja. Roger, concur. That's pretty. This picture of Baja is really gonna' turn out nice when we get it back in here and then enhance it a little bit, that's gonna' be pretty. Okay, Dick. If you got your little recorder going, let's go on with the report. Okay, we're certainly listening, go ahead. Okay, we're gettin' real close to the terminator, Nick, and one of the things that Bill is shooting for right now is a cloud casting a probably a 4-or 500 mile shadow along the ground. Roger, we see it. Heck, I bet it's more like a thousand miles. Roger. With the PLP view problem, we told him if he pulls up lame, we're gonna' have to shoot him. Roger. And PLT Houston, if that window will let you, we'd like you to look as close to Madir (?) as you can. Yeah, it's almost impossible, but will give you the best we can you can almost not see the ground at all there's so much haze down there. SPT Houston, word for you on H-alpha. Wonder if you'd start into what we'd like you to do is look on Page 6-8. We'd like you to start on Block 4. Okay, Dick. I went through and went ended up in Block 10 unfortunately, but
