Women's Rights in the U.S. Part 2
Description
This film portrays the role of women in American history, from the framing of the Declaration of Independence to the present-day feminist movement. Dialogue between feminists and anti-feminists — based on actual speeches, diaries, quotations, and newspaper reports of famous and lesser-known men and women — provides the commentary, and pictures and magazine illustrations taken from contemporary source materials are shown. Conditions and movements that brought about changes in the status of women are also highlighted, including life on the American frontier, abolitionism, the Civil War, industrialization, and suffragism. Finally, attitudes toward marriage, employment, fashion, and education are examined with wry humor. The film was produced by Dan Klugherz for Altana Films.
