The People's Bank Reel 1 · Part 3
Description
This film describes the history of the credit union movement and shows how members of a small Canadian farm community improved the local economy by organizing a credit union. In Reel 1, farmers who cannot afford to make needed improvements attend a lecture in the city on credit unionism. In Reel 2, the farmers return to their community and gather support for their own credit union. The children are also taught the system's values and form a small credit union in their school. The film was presented by the National Film Board of Canada and directed by Gudrun Bjerring.
