Argentine Primer (Moderno Art): A Talk by Julien Bryan - 1942 Reel 2 · Part 1
Description
A documentary about the country of Argentina, designed to foster American understanding of its potential friend or bitter rival. Reel 1 discusses Argentina's geography, population, and history, and its role as a leader in South American affairs. Various views of Buenos Aires and its subway, shops, theaters, churches, and residential areas are included. Reel 2 describes the Argentine government, press, and military, and explains the nation's role in world trade. The film surveys Argentina's light industries, national customs, arts, and sports. Reel 3 points out that Argentina's economy is focused heavily on agricultural, and follows the beef industry - from cattle grazing to meat processing and export. The film also explains that the U.S. and Argentina cannot truly be "good neighbors" until the beef import restriction problem is resolved. Produced and directed by Julien Bryan for the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs and written by Miriam Bucher.
