Freedom to Learn Part 3
Description
This film describes the educational system in the state of Iowa. The film opens with scenes on farms and in towns, and continues with a brief resume of the history of Iowa. Children attend the free rural and town schools, and many of them eventually attend the state university, which is shown in detail. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the university, supported by the people, is intended not only to provide a vocational and classical education to young people, but also to provide practical services to the community. Some of these services, such as medical help, information for farmers, and adult education, are illustrated. The film was presented by United Films and is No. 9 in the "American Scene" series.
