A Farm in Four Countries - 1953 Part 1
Description
This film describes European agriculture and how it has benefited from new and improved farming methods. Near Chartres, France, centuries-old inherited farm holdings are being consolidated to permit more rational use of the land. In Austria's mountainous Donnerbach Valley, electrically-powered winches are used to draw plows. West Germany's Vossenach forest, destroyed in the war, has been cleared to accommodate refugee farmers from East Germany. And in Paestum in Italy, the coastal plain - neglected for centuries - is being drained and irrigated and made fertile again. A Marshall Plan film, produced by John Ferno, narrated by Norman Wooland, directed by Nelo Risi, and produced by Ferno Productions, Paris, for MSA.
