President Reagan in Europe Part 3
Description
This video presents highlights of President Reagan's first major trip outside the U.S., in June, 1982, during which the President attended the G7 economic summit conference, visited four key allies (France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and West Germany), and developed two of his most important foreign policy concerns — economic- and security relations. Featured in the video are highlights of the President's attendance at the summit and at other locations around Europe, as well as clips of several of Reagan's speeches, including those delivered at the White House on June 2, 1982 (just prior to his departure); at the British parliament on June 8, 1982; and at the Bundestag in Bonn, West Germany on June 9, 1982. Also shown in the video is a post-trip analysis of the impact of President Reagan's trip, with comments by Hugh Sidey (Washington contributing editor of Time Magazine), Robert Hormats (Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs), and Richard Burt (Assistant Secretary-Designate for European Affairs).
