SUGAR CANE HARVESTING BY MACHINERY IN THE FLORIDA EVERGLADES Part 4
Description
Illustrates, in detail, the operation of the harvester. Rotating knives cut the stalks close to the ground, choppers grind the cane, trash is separated from the cane and blown over the field by an air blower, and the clean cane is deposited in cane cars. The cane is then hoisted into railroad cars and taken to a crushing plant. Includes shots of Ralph S. Falkiner, the inventor of the harvester.
