DANGEROUS INVADERS Part 1
Description
Shows the destruction of trees wrought by the gypsy and brown-tail moth and the methods being used to combat these pests. Gypsy moths ravage trees in New England. A gypsy moth lays eggs in a tree. Calosoma beetles, imported to decimate the moths, are distributed in infested areas. Moth webs are clipped and burned. Egg clusters are creosoted and trees are sprayed. Lumber and nursery stock leaving New England is inspected for moths and caterpillars.
