Description

Reel 1, prairie fires and floods sweep over abandoned farm lands and leave badly eroded areas. Explains how the clearing of land and continuous farming disturbs nature's crop rotation scheme and encourages soil erosion. Prescribes crop rotation, terracing, and livestock raising to insure continued land fertility. Reel 2, cover crops and timber are planted to combat erosion. Limestone and commercial fertilizers are added to the soil. Includes shots of eroded areas in Mesopotamia, Greece, Egypt, and Italy.
