R.F.D. 38 Reel 1 · Part 1

Description

Shows the efforts of a South Dakota farmer to reorganize his farm after severe dust storms in 1934 and to prevent the recurrence of the catastrophe. The Department of Agriculture helps the farmer list the soil against the wind, level soil drifts, dig out farm machinery, plant trees and sudan grass to anchor the soil, and seed his fields. Contrasts the invulnerability to dust storms of this farm with unprotected neighboring farms which did not receive such attention.
