Summary: Coverage of an indoctrination trip into the Rio Maniti area in the Amazon basin near Iquitos by members of the AF Tropical Survival School instructors, Air Commando, Army Special Forces and a medical team. Shows fishing and plant specimen hunting trips, tour of Peruvian museum and marketplace, setting up camp, cooking and administering medical care to the Yagua Indians. (Shot list to follow.) Reel 1, 706': Scenes of Mr. Morgan Smith, Chief of AF Tropical Survival School at Albrook AFB and group touring a Peruvian museum and examining food in marketplace. 2) Shows Mr. Smith and AF personnel giving away and planting palm tree seedlings at a school and in suburban area of Iquitos. 3) Shows group going up the Amazon River in motorboats. Shows Mr. Smith talking to Peruvian government officials (Iquitos). 5) LS & MS of survival group carrying equipment down long flight of steps to motorboat. 6) Scenes of motorboats on Amazon River, underway on Rio Maniti, turning into tributary, pulling away from camp area with CU's of man's hand bleeding and black balm needles stuck in finger. 7) MS part of survival group unloading motorboat and going into dense wooded area. Reel 4, 591': 1) Scenes of one of the survival group hacking on tree with machete and fishing. 2) MLS, MS & MCU of Maj Keys (doctor) and staff sergeant administering medical care to Yagua Indians. 3) MS & MCU's of staff sergeant giving ballpoint pen to Indian, with reaction shots as Indian marks on paper. 4) LS's & MS's of school on riverbank, part of survival group moving down tributary in motorboat, and one in boat paddling up stream. 5) Shows fish being smoked over fire at main camp. 6) LS of Mr. Brito, instructor, fishing from PK-2 one-man life raft and paddling to shore. 7) Scenes of trees along river, Army Special Forces men in boat fishing and motorboat moving up stream. 8) MLS of Indian village showing schoolhouse.
