Israel Airlift Operation Reel 1 · Part 1

Description

This film chronicles the strategic airlift operation conducted by the United States to deliver weapons and supplies to Israel during the Israel-Arab War of 1973 (the Yom Kippur War). Footage shows the loading of cargo aboard C-141A and C-5A aircraft at Dover Air Force Base; a refueling stop at Lajes Air Base; and the arrival and off-loading of cargo at Lod Airport during the Israeli airlift. Footage also shows Israeli Premier Golda Meir and Ambassador Kenneth B. Keating greeting the Materiel Air Command crews, and later the arrival at Lod Airport of Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
