NO. 750 STOCK SHOTS-FLYING WING, BUZZ BOMB Part 2

Description

Summary: Four twin-engined piloted flying scale models of the XB-35 (roughly 1/3 size) were built to provide research data. These aircraft, designed N-9M, had a span of 60 feet. The first two were powered by 275 h.p. Menasco engines, as was the third (N-9MA); but the fourth aircraft, the N-9MB, had two 300 h.p. Franklin engines. Loaded weight of each was 7,100 lbs. This is to be compared with the span of the XB-35 and XB-49 of 172 feet and loaded weight of 162,000 lbs.
