Description

Summary: Wreckage scenes of the X-2 including the escape capsule, wing and engine section, engine, propellant tank, and tail section. Also scenes are shown of the deceased pilot, Capt. Milburn Grant Apt in the cockDit and on a stretcher. CU INT cockpit section of X-2 on its side with pilot's parachute and harness visible -- the outer shell of the pilot's high altitude helmet is lying on the ground beside cockpit section. Camera pans slightly left to the capsule (entire cockpit section) parachute draped over a small bush in fg. 19': MCU slight change of angle to the right, showing the inside of cockpit and outer shell of helmet in fg. 36': Two MS's looking into cockpit of X-2 escape capsule on its side. In the first few frames of each take the pilot, Capt. Milburn Grant Apt, can be seen inside cockpit -- the exposure darkens and the inside of the cockpit is then in deep shadows. An airman can be partially seen at left frame standing next to escape capsule -- a stretcher is on the around in lower right frame. 91': MS X-2 escape capsule on its side. In the first few frames the pilot, Capt. Milburn Grant Apt, can be seen inside the cockpit -- +he exposure increases and the cockpit falls into deep shadow. After the first few frames of each take the exposure darkens and the interior of the cockpit is in deep shadow -- an AF still cameraman walks through the scene. 185': CU of Capt. Milburn G. Apt in cockpit of X-2 escape capsule on its side -- the outer shell of his high altitude helmet is off and a deep wound shows on his fore-head.
