IN-AIR REFUELING INVESTIGATIONS, DRY BOOM Part 3
Description
Summary: Coverage of the investigations conducted by the SeBAC Flight Test Section with experimental flying boom in-air refueling system. All tests were to prove the operational feasibility of the system, and develop the maneuvering controls for the production boom. Scenes are included of a B-29 tanker in flight with boom retracted, extended, and refueling another B-29. Investigations are made on emergency separation procedures, showing the B-29 suddenly dropping back and away from tanker; and investigations on contact operations in smooth air and moderately rough air, showing several views of the B-29 making contact with the tanker and holding position. Also included are scenes of an XB-47 and an A-26 being refueled by a B-29 tanker. Good (Basic: Koda print)
