ATLAS PROJECT FILM REPORT, FLIGHT TEST MISSILE 12-A Part 1

Description

Summary: Convair film report AT-31 covering the field modifications, erection, static testing, preparation, and launch of Atlas Missile 12-A on 17 December 1957. 1) Conversion of audio tape data to visual form as digital and analog readouts. 2) Cold vibration tests of missile 9A on Sycamore Canyon stand S-1; and hot vibration tests of missile 2A on Edwards Rocket Base stand 1-A. 3) Field modifications made on missile 12A, in hangar J at Cape Canaveral, to the aft thrust section fairing, engine nacelles, heat shield, tubing, and turbine exhaust. 4) Weighing of the missile. 5) Missile being erected on launch pad 14. 6) Electronic checkout trailers on launch pad ramp; and technicians at instrument panels in one of the trailers during checkout. 7) Removal of gantry from missile showing work platforms being raised and gantry moved back and away from missile.
