F-104C Operation Fast Wind Part 1
Description
This film covers Captain Joe B. Jordan's altitude record attempts in an F-104C prior to having made the world's altitude record and time-to-climb record of 30,000 meters (98,424 feet) on December 14, 1959. Footage shows preflight preparations; officials as they checked out instruments and removed the barograph from the F-104C after flight; and the F-104C as it taxied, took off and landed. The film also includes scenes of a F-105B chase plane as it took off, and Captain Jordan as he boarded and alighted from the F-104C.
