"Sixty Minutes" Segment "Is the Nuclear Nightmare Over?" Part 4
Description
This video recording covers an entire "Sixty Minutes" program, with the first segment focusing on arms control between Russia and the United States. The footage follows Ed Bradley as he visited a Russian nuclear missile base, looked into a silo at an SS-17 missile targeted to strike the U.S., was shown the launch process at an underground command center, and visited a "secret city" outside Moscow intended to ensure the survival of Soviet leadership in the event of a nuclear attack. Bradley also interviewed General Igor Sergeyev, commander of Russian Strategic Rocket Forces, who admitted that the probability of nuclear war between the two countries was very small. Included is footage of missiles in a railroad car, being dismantled, and being crushed in a compactor.
