THE WELFARE Part 1

Description

Documentary: Explores the relationship between public assistance and client self-help by looking at a group of California mothers in the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. They are aided by county welfare workers in running a cooperative nursery school and acquire organizational skills, effect others improvements in the community and question the "old kind of welfare". Narration consists largely of actual statements of clients and welfare workers.
