This video recording chronicles an interview with former Director of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) James Farmer, by the Administator of the Federal Highway Administration, Rodney E. Slater, in which Farmer spoke of the influence of the Freedom Rides in 1961 to the desegregattion movement in the United States. Still photographs join live footage to tell the story of the Freedom Rides and federal highways.
