Children and Riding Lawn Mowers Part 2
Description
This video news release focuses on children and lawn mower riding safety. The first release shows a man as he rode on a mower and cut his lawn while his children played outside. A child ran after a ball and stopped in front of the mower; the footage then cuts to a mower running over a teddy bear. Dr. George Thompson, a liaison for the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Injury and Poison Prevention, then stated that accidents most commonly occur when children are riding on the mower or are run over or backed over by the mower. He suggested keeping children indoors when operating a mower. Christine Fink, the mother of a child injured by a mower, said that her child's injury was completely preventable. Safety precautions for mower riding are subsequently described.
