Exercise Hsien Feng Part 1

Description

1) MCU Some of the U.S. Army Special forces team relaxing in the doorway of a brick building at Luantan Psy War Base, most of the men wear skivie shirts and are hatless; they are writing letters. 2) CU Two of the soldiers writing as they sit on the stone steps. 3) CU A tent camouflaged with tree branches. 4) CU Chinese S-2 sign at this Special Forces Operation Base, which is the planning H.Q. for the Exercise. 5) ECU The S-3 sign at SFOB. 6) CU The Political Department's sign; the Signal Section sign (bottom part is in English, top is in Chinese); the Medical Section's sign; the S-4 sign, the S1 sign and the Liason Section's sign, (these are all at SFOB). 7) MS A picture of Pres. CHIANG KAI-SHEK is placed in front of the Chinese Nationalist flag at SFOB. 8) MS Large briefing maps for U.S. and Chinese VIP's at the drop zone, where 1100 Chinese paratroopers are jumping to end the Exercise; the maps are placed on stands. 9) CU Two Chinese officers stand together; one talks on the phone. 10) MCU A group of sedans; CHANG KAI SHEK steps out of the sedan in the FG, and walks up the steps into the building. 11) MS The VIP's standing on the reviewing stand; CHIANG KAI SHEK moves to his seat, and comes to a salute, GEN. DEAN AND VADM SMOOTH are also on the stand. 12) MS A Chinese officer (using a large stick) points to the Chinese lettering on the briefing map as the VIP's are being briefed on the dropping of the paratroopers. 13) MLS A canopy covers the reviewing stand for the VIP's. 14) MS A Chinese officer briefing the VIP's on the large maps, which shows the drop zone. 15) GtoA MLS The leaflet drop at the drop zone; sky is filled with leaflets. 16) GtoA MLS The paratroopers descending to the ground in the drop zone; sky is filled with chutes. 17) LS Some of the paratroopers strike the ground, leave their chutes, and run toward the assembly area, as other chutes descend to the ground. 18) MLS The paratroopers running through the hilly field toward the assembly area. 19) MS One of the paratroopers hit on the rough ground then leaves his chute. 20) MS Three paratroopers pick up machine guns, tripods, and other gear as they leave their chutes on the ground and begin running toward the camera. 21) MS U.S. and Chinese officers at the final critique for the Exercise; they are in a large room, with four windows. 22) MLS The backs of the officers during the critique; stage in the BG. 23) MLS BRIG. GEN. FRANK ROBERT BORKE (on the stage) with his interpreter, giving his views on the Exercise to the large group of American and Chinese officers. 24) AtoA MS A C-46 in flight; the paratroopers make a mass jump, chutes float past the camera; the two planes in the BG dispose of the paratroopers. 25) AtoA MS Three planes in flight, with paratroopers jumping from them; hundreds of chutes float past the camera. 26) AtoG MS The terrain below; the chutes float toward the ground in the drop zone. 27) AtoG MS Three aircraft in flight with the paratroopers leaving them. 28) AtoG MS The terrain below; chutes float past the camera; the paratroopers descend to the ground. 29) AtoG MS The assembly area. 30) AtoG CU PAN Over the mountain top and valleys; a river winds through the valley. 31) CU Sign: "Director Headquarters Bldg" (written in Chinese and English. 32) MS The Director Headquarters Bldg. 33) MCU The Operations Bldg.; PAN to right: The Psy War Building. 34) MCU Same. 35) ECU Sign: "Base Headquarters" (in Chinese and English). 36) CU Chinese paratroopers insignia on the lawn, back of the Headquarters Building (built into the grass). 37) CU A Chinese flag insignia inside of a building; Chinese lettering below the insignia.
