OPERATION, "SADDLE-UP" Part 1

Description

1) LS USS Salisbury Sound, AV-13 entering Saigon, Viet Nam harbor, firing a twenty-one gun salute; Viet Nam naval vessels. (SV) G2) MS Viet Nam shore battery firing an answering gun salute; naval officer brings his hand down as each gun fires in succession. G3) CU Viet Nam naval band playing on the dock as the AV-13 approaches.4) MS Group of sailor watching from the dock (rear view). VG5) MS Band playing on dock as the Salisbury Sound ties up. VG6) CU Band leader directing the Saigon naval band. G7) MS Spectators with bicycles lining the dock. G8) MLS Sign: "Long Live the Friendship Between the U.S. and Viet Nam Navy". G9) CU PAN Viet Nam official boarding with U.S. naval officer; they pass through the sideboys and are greeted by a AV-13 officer. G10) MCU U.S. Navy officers and Viet Nam officials standing at attention during the honors. G11) MS President Ngo Dinh Diem passes through the sideboys and is greeted by Adm. G18) CU LVTP-5 sitting in tall grass with its rear ramp closing; operator of the landing vehicle protrudes from the hatch. G19) CU U.S. Marine in fatigues as the LVTP moves out. G20) MS Marine field artillery piece camouflaged by a net; men continue to camouflage the net with tree branches. G21) CU One-hundred and fifty-five millimeter howitzer with camouflage net over it as a marine throws a branch otop the net. G22) CU Marine use branches in covering tank which is sitting at the edge of a wooded area. G23) CU Men camouflaging a gontos tank with net. G24) MCU LVCP coming up to the beach and dropping ramp; members from the press and observers leave beach and enter landing vehicles. G25) MCU Capt. Potts, Royal Army Pay Corps. briefing the press and observers on the progress of the operation; Lt. Parks stands by. G26) MS Mechanical mule moving toward the headquarters camp followed by a land rover (heavjer vehicle than an jeep); British troops are in the land rover. VG27) MCU Line of British troop stripped to the waist with rifles over shoulder as they walk toward the chow line in the jungle.
