Description

1) HA MS Three men on ice, preparing to plant a charge in assisting EDISTO out of ice, which at moment the ship is fast in ice; one of the men uses long handled shovel, other two men prepare a charge. G2) HA MS Five or six men down on ice, near ship, preparing to set charge. G3) MCU Two men using snow shovels on helicopter deck of EDISTO; Pan, right, UH-13D helicopter parked on helicopter deck.4) MS Men using snow shovels, clearing helicopter deck of snow; Pan, left, to UH-13D helicopter secured down to deck, as one man uses foxtail on floats. G5) MS Man cleaning bubble canopy of UH-13D helicopter, cleaning snow off canopy and top part of cabin area; snow continues to fall; also preheater hoses are secured into engine area of helicopter. G6) MS Men on deck, standing around cargo nets; CH-19E helicopter comes down, hovers over men, as they hook on oargo nets; some supplies seen in cargo nets, as helicopter picks cargo net up off deck of EDISTO, flies off (some obstruction, top of frame, cutting off part of scene) otherwise G7) AtoG MCU PAN Around and over very large iceberg, once part of Ross Iceberg Shelf; it contains part of Little America V, one of the U.S. Antarctic Camps. VG8) AtoG CU PAN Over the large iceberg, showing part of it breaking off into water; Pan, on down side of large berg; some of the camp equipment is seen stuck into side of ice; helicopter flies in for a close up look of equipment sticking out of large iceberg, which was once part of Little America V. G9) MLS Looking out over slush ice, open water; some steam seems to be rising up from sea; either steam or fog rolling in, closing in fast; slow Pan, right, looking down port side of EDISTO underway.
