Description

1) MS Bathyscaphe TRIESTE in water; rigging being removed; a workman, MR. JACQUES PICCARD, MR. GUSSIPPE BUONO working on ladder; PAN down to dock where MR. ANDREAS RECHNITZER takes ladder and throws it down to dock. G to F2) MCU TRIESTE in the water; shot barrel lowered to TRIESTE by crane hook. G to F3) MCU Workers putting shot into TRIESTE from steel drum. G to F4) MS PAN Line of men getting bags of shot aboard TRIESTE; DR. RECHNITZER stands on edge of dock tossing bags of shot to MR. PICCARD on deck of TRIESTE; MR. PICCARD takes bags, cuts them open and dumps shot into funnel. G to F5) CU TRIESTE at dock; line taken aboard as TRIESTE leaves dock area; group of men on deck; PAN TRIESTE in tow by small tug, moving away from dock area; TRIESTE flies US flag and Swiss flag.6) MCU First test dive of TRIESTE in San Diego Bay; MR. PICCARD, MR RECHNITZER and MR. BUONO on deck; two small boats attached to end of TRIESTE. G to F7) MCU MR. BUONO stands in conning tower talking into telephone. G8) MS MR. BUONO releasing two end valves to let water into bow and stern tanks. G9) CU TRIESTE sinking very fast. G10) CU Three men on skiff talking with occupants of the sphere; underwater phone is used to communicate from surface to men in TRIESTE. G11) MS TRIESTE surfacing; small sciff with two men move toward TRIESTE. F12) MCU MR. BUONO hooking on air hose to clear water from passage way into sphere; water begins pouring out of pipe into bay. G13) MS MR. BUONO attaching safty devices in connection with shot tub. G14) CU Sphere showing DR DIETZ as scientist, DR. RECHNITZER as pilot; DIETZ using small tape recorder, then talks on phone; DR. RECHNITZER secures hatch in BG; DR. DIETZ talks into phone. G15) CU DR. RECHNITZER looking out of viewing hole. G16) CU DR. RECHNITZER changing the CO 2 canistere from rack, attaching a new canister, removing another canister from rack. G17) ECU DR. RECHNITZER sitting in sphere as he talks on underwater telephone; PAN up to face. G18) ECU DR. DIETZ talking on phone from inside sphere. G19) CU DR. DIETZ and LT DON WALSH entering sphere; DIETZ as the scientist and WALSH as pilot. G20) CU LT WALGH and DR. DIETZ coming out of sphere. G21) CU DR. RECHNITZER entering sphere followed by LT WALSH.22) CU LT WALSH and DR. RECHNITZER coming out of sphere. G23) CU DR. RECHNITZER installing batteries in sphere.
