Description

1) CU Sideboys at attention; VADM CHARLES D. GRIFFIN (Com. 7th Fleet) arrives aboard USS SWORDFISH (SSN-579) while sub is at dock; PAN with VADM GRIFFIN; officers and men at attention. G2) CU PAN MAJOR GENERAL HU SHU-KUANG boarding sub after passing through ranks of sideboys on dock. G3) MCU Car arrives with GEN CHIANG KAI-SHEK (President of new China); car comes to stop near gangway; CHIANG KAI-SHEK debarks from car, salutes as he looks toward sub. G4) CU GEN CHIANG KAI-SHEK with HU SHU-KUANG following behind as they board the sub; PAN with GEN CHIANG KAI-SHEK. G5) MS GEN CHIANG KAI-SHEK salutes various officers lined up on deck of sub; General is greeted by VADM GRIFFIN; others greeting the general are VADM ROLAND N. SMOOT (Com. US Taiwan Defense Command) MAJOR GENERAL L.I. DOAN (Chief Mil. Assistant Advisory group, Taiwan) and MR. JOSEPH A. YAGER (Charge of d"Affaires, US embassy). G6) CU General being led along sail as he steps into a hatchway leading into the conning tower, followed by HU SHU-KUANG and other officers. F7) CU Sub arriving at Keelung, Taiwan harbor; crew and party on deck. G8) MS VIP"s lined up aboard sub; crew member throws a heaving line to dock. F9) MS Men on deck of sub letting go of mooring line.10) MS General standing next to LCDR ROTH S. LEDDICK (CO of sub). G11) MCU General with LCDR LEDDICK and other Chinese and US officers stand off to right. G12) CU General shakes hands with VADM GRIFFIN; MAJOR GENERAL HU SHU-KUANG next to conning tower. G13) CU General and HU SHU-KUANG debarking fron sub; General steps out on dock.14) MS VADM GRIFFIN piped aboard sub at Keelung Harbor, Taiwan. G15) CU Undt. Chinese Army officer boarding sub. G16) CU MR. YAGER steps aboard sub, and is greeted by VADM GRIFFIN. G to F17) MS General boarding sub with his Army and Naval aids; PAN with General as he walks across brow and comes to a salute. G18) CU General welcomed aboard by VADM GRIFFIN. G19) LA MS General, LCDR LEDDICK and another undt. officer on bridge of sub. G20) CU General speaks with VADM GRIFFIN, as General"s aide stands by. G21) ECU General speaks with VADM GRIFFIN, as his aide looks on. G22) MCU General shakes hands with LCDR LEDDICK as they stand in front of sail. G23) CU PAN VADM GRIFFIN leaves sub.24) CU General shakes hands with ship"s officers as he prepares to leave.
