Description

1) CU Unidentified enlisted man leaning over a work table; area is quite dark. G-F2) CU Two scientists operating various Loran "C" equipment in plotting for lost USS THRESHER (SSN-593) while on board USS ALLEGHENY (ATA-179) (SV). (UX) (jumpy, hand held)3) CU Down over table showing two men plotting out on a chart the possible areas where USS THRESHER might be. F4) CU One of the scientists wearing phones; wires running to one of the machines; graph paper comes up out of the machine, plotting position. F-P5) CU Small foreign junk car readied for going over side of USS ALLEGHENY to be used with sound equipment in search for USS THRESHER; sling rigged around small compact car; men clambering over top of roof (SV). F6) MCU Deck officer operating controls for crane as the small car is lifted up off deck (SV).7) MS Small car swung overboard; several of the men push on side of car to keep it over the side as the crane lowers car into water; the release is released, car begins sinking and immediately goes under off port quarter of USS ALLEGHENY.
