Pearl Harbor Part 1
Description
This film depicts Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the spring of 1942, following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The battleship the USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) is shown as it headed out to sea, and three Vought OS2U Kingfisher catapult-launched observation floatplanes are seen on board the ship. The USS Pennsylvania is shown as it passed through a sub net, and several small harbor tugboats and net laying ships are seen near the USS Pennsylvania. Views of small transport ships, destroyers, and sunken ships are shown in and around Pearl Harbor, and air tanks used to raise sunken vessels are seen in operation. Part of the Aloha Tower is shown in the background, and a large crane is seen as it lowered supplies (including fuel drums, an army truck, and several other vehicles) onto a pier.
